Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte hands Clement Lenglet blow to Barcelona
Barcelona’s hopes of selling Clement Lenglet for a fee of around €18million have been paralyzed due to the uncertainty surrounding manager Antonio Conte’s future at Tottenham Hotspur, as per Spanish outlet SPORT.
He is apparently the French centre-back’s biggest supporter but is himself facing an uncertain future in N17. Conte has come under criticism after Spurs’ elimination from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of AC Milan.
We did beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 in the Premier League on Saturday, but it doesn’t comb over the fact that we are going to end this season without a trophy once again. Moreover, Conte’s deal expires this summer.
This has jolted Barcelona’s hopes of selling the centre-back permanently to Spurs. Lenglet has done pretty well whenever he has been on the pitch for us.
What should we do?
He has scored once and assisted twice in 27 games for us in all competitions this campaign. The number of games he has played for us shows how important he has been especially when Cristian Romero has been injured.
We can surely use him in the team no matter who is in charge of us next season. This doesn’t mean he has to be our major signing in defence.
That should absolutely not be the case. We have to bring in world-class names (or name – even one good signing would do) at centre-back. Lenglet, on top of that, will be a brilliant bonus.

The aforementioned price tag doesn’t seem too bad for a 27-year-old centre-back who has experience playing for teams such as Barcelona and the France national team. Currently, he is set to return to Barca at the end of his loan deal which doesn’t have an option to buy.
