Former Tottenham Hotspur player Jamie O’Hara gives his verdict on Richarlison’s performance against Nottingham Forest
Former Tottenham Hotspur player Jamie O’Hara, while speaking on TalkSport (h/t HITC) had only two words to describe Richarlison’s performance against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Spurs came out as the victors in a 3-1 win over Forest and it was much needed after three consecutive games without a win which included the crucial UEFA Champions League tie against AC Milan.
The aftermath of the Champions League loss was rather interesting and surprising as Richarlison came forward to the press and controversially admitted doubt over the decisions made by the manager, which also included the decision of keeping the Brazilian on the bench.
This was certainly a bolt out of the blue considering how straightforward he was with his criticism. Amidst all of that, Richarlison was handed the start against Nottingham Forest and almost scored his first league goal for the club in the fifth minute, only for it to be ruled out.
However, his performance throughout the game was positive with O’Hara, who has made 56 appearances for Spurs in the past, sharing a similar opinion of the Brazilian.
“Richarlison, he played really well.”
Richarlison’s signing from Everton in the summer was met with a lot of hype and excitement with the Brazilian playing a key part in helping the Toffees fight off relegation. However, the player has failed to score a single league goal in eighteen appearances so far and has not done much to justify a place in the starting eleven.
All the more contrast is felt when one sees his direct competitor in the team, Harry Kane, crossing the 20 goals target in March itself.
There is no doubt of the ability that the player possesses which was on full display at the FIFA World Cup where he led the line for Brazil.

His performance against Forest was positive and he needs to build on this and keep on working hard to justify an elongated run in the starting eleven.
