Pundit believes Harry Kane will sign new contract if Tottenham appoint Mauricio Pochettino
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa striker Darren Bent has claimed that Harry Kane could sign a new contract if the club appoints Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager.
The England international’s current deal expires at the end of the next season (Transfermarkt). The 29-year-old, who is now our club’s all-time leading goalscorer, hasn’t indicated that he will sign a new deal.
The situation is even worse with Antonio Conte. The Italian manager could leave as a free agent this summer, and former Spurs boss Pochettino has been cited as a potential replacement.
The Argentine manager was in charge in N17 from 2014 until 2019. He laid the foundations for Spurs to become an elite team that can challenge for trophies before trying his luck at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
It didn’t work out for him there and now, the 51-year-old is one of the names to replace Conte should the former Inter Milan manager walk this summer. According to Bent, Spurs can get Kane to sign a new deal if Poch arrives.
He said exclusively on Drivetime (h/t TalkSPORT):
“If Pochettino goes back to Spurs I think Kane signs a new contract.”
Kane succeeded under Pochettino to a huge extent, scoring 169 goals and providing 30 assists in 242 games across competitions. It was under the Argentine boss that he became one of the world’s very best strikers.
Pochettino, after his spell at PSG, would be wiser, smarter, and more seasoned after getting to manage a dressing room filled with superstars. It isn’t easy managing Les Parisiens, with whom he also won the Ligue 1 title.

Kane has reached the level of ‘club legend’ status where one can expect him to have some input if the club are in the market for a new boss. Poch looks like the safe option now… a return to home for the Lilywhites… even if it means admitting they were wrong to sack him.
