Tottenham Hotspur and Sevilla among four clubs linked with VfB Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa
Tottenham Hotspur, Sevilla, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Sociedad have been named as four potential suitors in the race to sign VfB Stuttgart full-back Borna Sosa, as per German outlet BILD (h/t Fichajes).
The 25-year-old is a specialist at crossing and taking set pieces. He could be the player that ultimately takes up the left flank for us if and when the ageing Ivan Perisic, who is his international teammate at Croatia, departs N17.
But of course, we will have to gauge the competition from Leverkusen, Sociedad, and Sevilla. These three teams could offer him a better chance at playing time because at Spurs, the situation can be uncertain with the presence of Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon, with Ben Davies and Sergio Reguilon also in the picture.
Right now, if Sosa joins us, then one can see a place for him at left wing-back. He can play there if he fails to break into our brilliant attacking line that doesn’t warrant benching right now.
Spurs and Sosa
Even if manager Antonio Conte, which he very well could this summer, Sosa could nestle a position for himself at left-back instead of a left wing-back role. It, however, will require Spurs to do some in-house cleaning.
What will happen to Reguilon, Davies, Sessegnon and Perisic if Sosa arrives? We would surely need to sell some of these names. For Conte, Reguilon seems to be a no-go when it comes to handing starts, so perhaps that could be one place to start.
Hence, Spurs will have to make themselves an attractive destination if they want Sosa. He is in the prime years of his career and will surely not want to waste it on the bench.

A lot, however, seems to be put on hold by Conte’s contract situation, which would start to irritate fans now. Sosa, however, is a player who can be an asset to any manager, so we should keep track of him no matter who is at the helm for us.
