Tottenham are keeping tabs on Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili
Writing in his column with Caught Offside, popular journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Valencia goalie Giorgi Mamardashvili as a replacement for Hugo Lloris.
The Georgian stopper has been impressive in his performances for the Spanish club this season, catching the eye of Antonio Conte’s scouting team. With the future of current Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris up in the air, the club has been on the lookout for a new shot-stopper.
Mamardashvili, at just 22 years of age, represents a bright prospect for the future. The Georgian international has been a mainstay in Valencia’s starting lineup this season, albeit in a struggling side.
The opportunity to play for a club like Tottenham would be a great incentive for the shot-stopper. Knowing the situation at N17 right now, he could be the main keeper for at least a decade to come.
Of course, securing the services of Mamardashvili will not be an easy task. Valencia will undoubtedly be reluctant to lose one of their star players, and Tottenham will need to convince them to sell their players.
However, if Tottenham manages to secure Champions League qualification at the end of the season, they could become an attractive destination for many players, including Mamardashvili.
The Premier League is known for its physicality, and Mamardashvili would need to adapt his game to suit the demands of English football. However, with his potential, he could go on to become one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and Tottenham could be the perfect platform for him to do so.
Tottenham has been linked with a number of goalkeepers in recent months, including Brentford’s David Raya. However, Mamardashvili represents a more long-term prospect, and his signing would show that the club is looking to the future.
