Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham are “very happy” with Pedro Porro after milestone vs Southampton
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are ‘very happy’ with Pedro Porro and are content with the investment they made this January.
The 23-year-old signed from Sporting CP on an initial loan deal with an obligation to make it permanent for 45million Euros this summer. He is now laying claim to a regular starting spot in Spurs’ starting XI.
When he initially signed, Emerson Royal hit form and got a number of starts under manager Antonio Conte and assistant boss Cristian Stellini. It seems that he has adjusted now and is our first-choice right-back.
He scored his first goal for Spurs, doing so in first-half stoppage time against Southampton earlier today (18 March). The 23-year-old found the ball at his feet after a pass from Son Heung-min into the box went through a huddle of Spurs and Saints players.
First of many
He proceeded to finish it with power and precision into the goalkeeper’s left-hand top corner. The Spain international made a very good attacking run to find himself in that position.
Conte’s wing-backs are famous for doing this. Remember the goal Ryan Sessegnon scored via a header in the early stages of the season? That kind of stuff has really been what Conte’s full-backs have been all about.
He tries to implement attacking football down the flanks and there is hardly anyone happier than him when they assist or score in a game. Porro is making the right impression in N17.

He is still just 23 and has a long way to go before hitting his prime years but he already looks like a very, very sound investment on our part. He was substituted four minutes from the 90-minute mark as we fell to a very, very late James Ward-Prowse penalty to draw 3-3.
