Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Montpellier talent Elye Wahi
According to Jeunes Footeux, London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Elye Wahi, the talented Ligue 1 attacker.
Wahi has been in fine form this season, scoring 12 goals and providing two assists in 24 Ligue 1 games. His performances have caught the eye of top clubs around the world with Borussia Dortmund also wanting the player.
The 20-year-old striker has a contract with Montpellier until 2025 (Transfermarkt) but the Frenchman is expected to be on the move in the summer. There is no doubt that the Ligue 1 club will demand big money.
Tottenham, in particular, have been linked with Wahi before, back in 2017 when he was just 14 years old. At the time, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Southampton were all also interested in the young striker.
Now that he has shown that he can do it at the highest level, it looks like Tottenham are revisiting their interest in the player. He could be a very smart acquisition for the club should they manage to bring him in.
The hunt for a future star
The search for Harry Kane’s long-term successor is well and truly on. Judging by the initial signs, Wahi has the traits to be the player that Tottenham are looking for and could fit the bill in their hunt for a striker.
However, if Kane were to leave in the near future, Wahi might not yet be at the level to replace him right away. Ideally, Tottenham could use Richarlison initially before eventually moving on to Wahi.
Regardless, there is no doubt that Wahi is a huge talent for the future. The Frenchman can play anywhere across the forward line which makes him a hugely appealing transfer target for top clubs in Europe.
