Tottenham Hotspur agree to part ways with Antonio Conte
According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur have made the decision to sack Antonio Conte in the coming days following his explosive rant in the media against his players last weekend.
It comes as absolutely no surprise that the Italian manager is close to being given the sack. It already seemed like a foregone conclusion that he’d not remain the manager at N17 beyond this season.
Spurs let a 3-1 lead slip to draw 3-3 against Southampton who are placed 20th in the Premier League and Conte was not one bit happy. He came out to the media and absolutely sold his team down the river with his comments.
Not surprisingly, this did not go down too well with the Tottenham board and players. After a few days of internal discussions, it looks like the club have decided to relieve the Italian coach of his first-team duties.
It is being claimed that Daniel Levy and Tottenham will finalize Antonio Conte’s exit by this week. Ryan Mason is expected to take over for the rest of the season as Spurs try and decide who the right person is to take them forward.
Wanting to get sacked?
Conte’s comments in the press-conference seemed to be coming from a man who was desperate to get sacked. It does seem like Tottenham have decided to grant him the wish and let him leave early.
It was absolutely appalling to see a first-team manager come and hit out at his own team in public. With Conte though, it was not a huge surprise as he has always been someone who is known for falling out with the clubs he has been at.
If and when Conte is sacked, he must take a serious look at the job he has done here. Whilst he has improved the team in certain aspects like the physical level, no other manager has been backed this well at Tottenham.
