Tottenham Hotspur target Julian Nagelsmann is not just looking at money in search of a new project
According to Fabrizio Romano in his Youtube video via the Boot Room (h/t Football.London) is revealed that Julian Nagelsmann is looking for a new club after getting the sack from FC Bayern Munich, with Tottenham Hotspur touted to be one of the interested parties.
The sacking of Nagelsmann was nothing short of surprising with the German doing pretty well with the Bundesliga outfit. It has presented an amazing opportunity for Daniel Levy to make a swoop for one of the highly rated managers in modern football.
Nagelsmann too had shown an affinity towards the London club in the past and Romano claims that the German would be looking to make a switch soon however the money would not be the main factor in his decision.
“He doesn’t want to miss the next step. For him it’s crucial to have a project, it’s not just about the money, the contract – he wants to see a project, a vision.
He wants to have an influence and also a good relationship with the board. This is really crucial for Julian Nagelsmann after what happened at Bayern and so, this is why at the moment we have a lot of stories.
But from my understanding, Nagelsmann will take some time and then will make a decision on when he will be ready to return to coaching. If it will be now, or at the end of the season. But for sure, Nagelsmann is going to wait for a very good project and not just for money.”
Appointing Nagelsman would definitely be a masterstroke from Levy provided he is given ample time to build a long-term project.
It could also play a big role in persuading Harry Kane to sign a new contract with his current deal ending in June 2024 with speculations that the club’s leading goalscorer might be looking for a different challenge.
The sacking of Conte was inevitable considering how the last few weeks have been with a clear breakdown of the relationship between the manager and the players pretty visible. Cristian Stellini, who was leading the team in the win over Manchester City would be taking charge of the team until an able replacement is found.
Nagelsmann is definitely in the running along with former boss Mauricio Pochettino, who has been out of the job since leaving Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Many big clubs will be circling around for Nagelsmann’s signature hence we would have to be on our toes to get him to London and lay the foundations for a new era at Spurs. The club cannot make the same mistake as they did with Conte – got in a big-name manager on a short-term deal who never seemed to be convinced Spurs were at his level.
