Ivan Perisic wants to quit Tottenham in the summer following Antonio Conte sacking

According to Calcio Mercato, Ivan Perisic wants to quit Tottenham Hotspur in the summer following the exit of Antonio Conte.

Perisic had a successful spell under Conte during his time at Inter Milan, and one of the main reasons he joined Tottenham was to reunite with the Italian manager. However, with Conte no longer at the helm, Perisic is reportedly inclined to return to Italy.

Journalist Marco Barzaghi confirmed Perisic’s desire to return to Inter Milan, as reported by Sempre Inter, stating that the player knows that with Conte’s exit, things could look bleak for him here.

If Perisic decides to leave Tottenham, the club will be left with young Ryan Sessegnon and another summer signing, Destiny Udogie, as the only other options for the left full-back position.

The decision on whether to keep Perisic or not will depend on the preferred style of play of the new manager and their ability to utilize the Croatian’s versatility and experience. It is a huge call to make.

If the manager who is coming also plays with a back three, then keeping Perisic makes sense as he can be the left wing-back. However, we still don’t know if Perisic can play as a left-back in a back four.

The Croatian is also not getting any younger. Yes, he shows an incredible work rate and has a pace about him. However, the former Inter Milan defender might know that he does not have long left at the top.

Tottenham will be hoping to convince Perisic to stay at the club, but with interest from his former club and his reported desire to leave, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the 34-year-old.
