Robbie Keane believes Tottenham Hotspur can still finish top four due to the inconsistency shown by teams below

Former Tottenham Hotspur player Robbie Keane, while speaking on Betway (h/t Football London) believes Tottenham still have a chance to finish in the top four and qualify for the UEFA Champions League positions.

Spurs are currently fourth in the table but have played extra games than its competition for the top four places but Keane believes the inconsistency shown by the teams below could potentially help Spurs finish the season on a high note.

“I still think Tottenham have a chance in the race for fourth as well. They had a bad result just before the international break, being two goals ahead against Southampton and slipping up. That should have been three points.

But I still think they can get there. Yes, they are inconsistent but the teams below them are also inconsistent.”

Although the team has shown inconsistency itself and dropped crucial points before the international break, it was more down to the injuries at hand and the general low morale.

With the sacking of Antonio Conte during the international break, it would do more good than harm for the team.

A complete loss of confidence from the manager towards the players and likewise from the other side could have potentially ended our top-four hopes.

The appointment of Conte was met with a lot of excitement and hope of finally ending the club’s trophy drought with the Italian is known for delivering success in his past clubs.

With the manager leading the team to an unexpected top-four finish coupled with an impressive summer transfer window, it felt that this season could be the one where the team reaches its potential.

However, things did not go according to plan and it was soon realised that only parting of ways between the manager and the club would be the ideal way forward.

With ten games to go until the season finishes, we need a good consistent run till the end and with Cristian Stellini taking over till a new manager is found, it could actually be a blessing in disguise which could lead to a good season-ender.
