Fabio Paratici opens up on the sacking of former Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte
Speaking in an interview as quoted by popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur director Fabio Paratici has opened up on the sacking of Italian manager Antonio Conte.
Paratici felt that it was the best decision for the club to part ways with Conte when they did and placed full trust in Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason to lead the team and achieve their goals by the end of the season.
Conte’s time at N17 came to an end when the club announced that they had relieved the former Inter Milan manager from his duties by mutual termination of contract and Stellini has been appointed the caretaker manager for the rest of the season.
A person with whom Conte had a very close working relationship with was Paratici. The duo signed a few brilliant players to Tottenham with the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Cristian Romero and Rodrigo Bentancur all impressing.
Conte’s time at Tottenham had to come to an end with the relationship growing fractious by the day. Results weren’t really turning out how Tottenham wanted them to and the manager’s off-field actions did not help.
Speaking about the situation, here is what Paratici had to say about the exit of Conte and what the club’s plan was
“To part ways with Conte was the best decision for all parties. Stellini managed the team when Antonio was sick, he has experience; Ryan Mason can help him a lot. We are really, really confident: Stellini & Mason can do a very good job”.
Paratici will now know that he has a huge task in hand in appointing the right manager to take the club forward from here. The Italian has done a good job in the transfer windows and he will have a few managers in mind.
Tottenham though will know that their priority now is qualifying for the Champions League for next season. Stellini will be tasked with the responsibility of inspiring this group to do just that.
