Injury News: Tottenham Hotspur confirm Hugo Lloris return ahead of Everton clash
Tottenham Hotspur’s official Twitter account has confirmed that Hugo Lloris is back training with the first team ahead of the Premier League trip against Everton this weekend.
The Frenchman injured his knee in our 1-0 win against Manchester City in the Premier League on 5 February. He has since been sidelined, and Fraser Forster has been fulfilling the purpose he was signed for as a free agent last summer.
The club account shared a picture of Lloris in training where he is diving to catch a ball hit towards him. With the way that he seems to be moving and the fact that he is training on grass indicate that he is very close to making his return.
According to the Evening Standard, there is still no clarity if Lloris will be involved against Everton. One may think that a goalkeeper doesn’t have a lot of moving around to do for them to risk aggravating injuries.
Lloris back for Everton?
But one bad fall is all it will take to send Lloris to the sidelines again. It is best if we stick to Forster, who has been surprisingly good in recent weeks. The former Southampton goalkeeper arrived as a No. 2 and will be behind Lloris in the pecking order once the Frenchman returns.
However, he has barely put a foot wrong and deserves to play another game this season. It will also ensure Lloris isn’t risked for the crucial run-in after Easter.
Moreover, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has been error-prone himself. It is about time we start looking for a long-term replacement for the 36-year-old.
