Tottenham Hotspur manager Cristian Stellini offers Ivan Perisic fitness update
Speaking to the club’s media, Tottenham Hotspur acting manager Cristian Stellini offered a fitness update on Croatian star Ivan Perisic ahead of the clash against Everton this weekend.
Stellini is set to take charge of his first game as Tottenham’s full-time manager and he attended the media ahead of an important clash. The manager however is not new to managing the team.
The Croatian winger suffered a late injury scare during his national team’s victory over Turkey on Tuesday, leaving fans concerned about his availability for the upcoming match. However, it all seems fine.
Perisic was seen holding his left leg in discomfort towards the end of the game and was subsequently substituted in injury time. However, Stellini revealed that the injury was not serious and Perisic is expected to be fit for the crucial clash against the Toffees.
Perisic’s potential absence would have been a blow for Tottenham, who have been struggling for consistency this season. The Croatian has been one of their most reliable performers since joining from Inter Milan in the summer.
Speaking about the situation, here is what Stellini had to say about the fitness of the Croatian star.
“Perisic is well. He came back this morning. It was only a kick. We can recover Perisic, but the others, we need time.”
With several other key players missing due to injury, including Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, Ben Davies, Richarlison, Emerson Royal, and Ryan Sessegnon, Perisic’s availability is even more crucial for Tottenham.
The London club has endured a difficult season so far, with inconsistent performances and a series of disappointing results. This resulted in the club mutually parting ways with Antonio Conte.
