Cristian Stellini yet to make decision on Hugo Lloris starting for Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton
Tottenham Hotspur acting head coach Cristian Stellini is yet to make a decision about Hugo Lloris starting against Everton after returning from injury.
The French national has been on the sidelines for the last few weeks. Fraser Forster has deputised in his absence. However, the 36-year-old has been back in training for some time now.
Speaking to the media via football.london ahead of the match versus the Toffees, Stellini, who was handed the reins recently after Antonio Conte’s departure, has revealed that Lloris is fit. But it remains to be seen whether the shot-stopper will play a part in the game.
“Hugo Lloris has been training since last week so he is training also this week with the team.
“Obviously we didn’t have the team until Wednesday because they came back day by day from the national team so we train much more with the academy players, but Hugo is fit and well, so we have to take a decision with the keeper.”
The Everton fixture will be the Italian’s first match in charge of Tottenham after Conte parted ways with the North London side. Earlier in the season, when the former Inter Milan head coach was ill, the 48-year-old had stepped in to take charge of the team.
It will be a big decision whether to feature Lloris or not. Fortster has done a decent job and pulled off some impressive saves over the last few weeks.
However, even though the French national has been a bit underwhelming over the years, he is our captain and a key part of the team. Therefore, it would be a boost to have the 36-year-old back in between the sticks.
Tottenham are not enjoying a fruitful season. At the start of the campaign, expectations were seemingly at an all-time high. Conte’s success had instilled hope regarding the North London side ending their trophy drought.
But now, all that is left to fight for is a place in the top four. While it is not an ideal scenario, we need to do everything in our power to ensure that the Lilywhites are in the Champions League next season.
