Liverpool join Tottenham Hotspur in Evan Ndicka race
According to Mirror, Liverpool have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race for talented French defender Evan Ndicka with the player set to be available on a free transfer.
After a disappointing season, the Reds are looking to strengthen their squad, and Ndicka has emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s hottest defensive properties. He is now being touted with a big move to many clubs.
The 23-year-old, who won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt and has been a standout performer in the Champions League this season, is available for a free transfer in the summer after turning down a final contract offer from his current club.
This has put a number of top European clubs on alert, including Liverpool and Tottenham, who have been tracking Ndicka since he emerged as a teenager with Auxerre and at the France youth levels.
Mikel Arteta and Arsenal have also been keeping a close eye on the development of the left-sided defender, who has been dominating the Bundesliga stats for defensive blocks this season.
Spurs have a history of investing in young talent and building them up, and Ndicka fits the profile of a player who could thrive under the guidance of whoever the new manager at N17 is going to be.
The fact that Ndicka is available on a free transfer makes him an even more attractive option for both Liverpool and Tottenham. A player of his quality and his age do not come around often at this price.
The Frenchman has been deployed as a left-sided defender, but he has also covered in the left-back role and even as a holding midfielder on occasion. This kind of versatility is highly valued by modern managers, who are always looking for players who can adapt to different formations and tactical setups
