Tottenham Hotspur urged to make a move for Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson

Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has urged Tottenham Hotspur to make a move for Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson, who is at Nottingham Forest until the end of the season.

The Englishman joined the Tricky Trees last summer to get playing time considering David de Gea is the club’s undisputed No. 1. Spurs have been linked with Henderson recently.

Agbonlahor has now urged the Lilywhites to make that interest formal. He told Football Insider exclusively:

“I think he’s more than good enough to be part of that Spurs side. I can tell you this, I did say they should have gone for Pickford, but he’s signed the new contract at Everton. They’ve got to go for a young option – someone who can be in that goal for the next 10 years.

He added:

“It will obviously depend on the De Gea situation as to whether Henderson ends up leaving, but I think it’s a good fit. “It’ll be interesting to see where Spurs go, but they’ve got to get rid of Lloris. He’s just made too many mistakes, he takes too long on the ball – he’s got to go, for sure.”

Jordan Pickford signed a contract until the summer of 20277 (Transfermarkt), which will surely make it tough to sign him. The 29-year-old, although, may harbour ambitions to play for a club not fighting relegation.

Henderson, 26, seems to be more attainable, especially with Manchester United’s goalkeeping situation. Moreover, he is at an age where he can look to finally make the jump to a big six team where he can actually play.

Playing for Sheffield United and Forest is well and good but he wouldn’t envisage that as a long-term aim for his career. Agbonlahor is also correct to say that Hugo Lloris is faltering.

We shouldn’t wait until next year to replace the Frenchman and Daniel Levy and co. would be wise to get in a new goalie this summer itself.
