Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Vitor Roque meets with Barcelona officials
Tottenham Hotspur target Vitor Roque has apparently met Barcelona’s officials in Catalonia at the request of the La Liga giants, as per foreign outlet Globo Esportivo.
The 18-year-old has been linked with a host of European clubs, including Spurs, Barcelona, West Ham, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Arsenal. Apparently, he held a meeting with people linked to the English clubs in recent days.
No official proposal has been made yet for the Athletico Paranaense striker. He has scored 11 goals and provided three assists in 41 senior games for the Brazilian club.
He got his dream call-up to Brazil’s senior squad in March, where he made his senior debut for the Selecao in a 2-1 friendly defeat against Morocco. Roque is one of the finest young strikers in his age bracket.
Do Spurs even need him right now?
The success of players such as Rodrygo Goes, Vinicius Junior and Lautaro Martinez in recent years has left European clubs looking for the next bargain buy from South America. No one wants to miss out on a future superstar.
The hype around Roque makes it seem like he is destined for greatness. Of course, he will have to prove his mettle in Europe if and when he signs for a new from Athletico PR.
Harry Kane, 29, is in the form of his life while Richarlison is also patiently waiting for his chances. At Spurs, playing time can be hard to come by for a teenage striker, no matter how good he may be.
If Kane leaves in the near future, then it’s a whole different story, but then, fans will question the decision to potentially replace a seasoned striker with a rather inexperienced teenager.

Barcelona, moreover, carry immense cultural clout, especially in South America. They also need an understudy for the ageing Robert Lewandowski. On paper, Roque’s move to Barcelona makes sense, which will be a worry for Spurs.
