Tottenham Hotspur met with the agent of Giorgi Mamardashvili ahead of a potential summer move
According to Spanish outlet Cope, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester United are keen on signing Giorgi Mamardashvili and have met with his agent.
Tottenham Hotspur is one of the clubs reportedly interested in Valencia’s goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. The young Georgian has been turning heads in La Liga with some impressive performances for Los Che.
Tottenham, in particular, are in the market for a new goalkeeper. Hugo Lloris has been a fantastic servant to the club, but at 34 years old, he is approaching the twilight of his career. His performances have really taken a hit.
At just 22 years old, the Georgian has already made 27 appearances in La Liga this season, a testament to his quality and potential. He has conceded 32 goals, which may not seem like a great record, but it’s worth noting that Valencia have struggled this season, sitting just three points above the relegation zone.
Tottenham is not the only club interested in Mamardashvili’s services, however. Manchester United and Chelsea are also monitoring the situation, with United looking for a long-term replacement for David De Gea.
Chelsea are looking to offload either Kepa Arrizabalaga or Edouard Mendy. Mamardashvili could be an excellent addition to any of these clubs, but Tottenham should be at the front of the queue.
Valencia will likely demand a significant fee for Mamardashvili’s services. However, the potential upside is huge. He is young, talented, and has plenty of room for improvement. With the right coaching and development, he could become one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.
Of course, there are risks involved in signing a young goalkeeper with relatively little experience at the top level. Mamardashvili has yet to be tested in the Premier League, and there is always a chance that he could struggle to adapt to the pace and physicality of English football.
