Tottenham Hotspur are in a strong position to sign Atletico Madrid’s Rodrigo De Paul
Tottenham Hotspur are among a list of seven clubs interested in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodrigo De Paul.
This is according to Italian outlet Inter Live, who also list AS Roma, Juventus, Inter Milan, Brentford, Everton and Aston Villa as his potential suitors. Apparently, 30million Euros could be enough to seal the deal for De Paul.
The Argentina international won the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and was a huge part of manager Lionel Scaloni’s triumph in the competition. It will be a surprise to see him play for a mid-table club when teams like Spurs, Juve and Inter are seemingly interested in him.
Apparently, there is a feeling that De Paul is sure to wear the Tottenham shirt next season, with sporting director Fabio Paratici holding talks over a potential move before taking an immediate leave of absence following a FIFA ban for alleged financial offences during his time at Juventus.
The right option?
De Paul is a solid central midfielder who specialises in the defensive part of the game. He is not afraid to stick his leg in tackles and is assured in possession. A hard-working player like him would always be welcome in N17.
He would also have Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso in the dressing room with him if he joins Spurs. The three, of course, are full internationals for Argentina.
De Paul will also be elite competition for Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, with the likes of Harry Winks, Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma, Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Winks not showing enough to become regular starters yet.

De Paul, 28, still has a lot of years left in him and with his contract not expiring before the summer of 2026 (Transfermarkt), the aforementioned price tag for him makes this deal a no-brainer. Spurs must do everything they can to sign the former Udinese man.
