Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham to battle for James Maddison

According to Graeme Bailey of 90Min (h/t Chronicle Live), Tottenham Hotspur are set to be rivalled by Newcastle United and Liverpool for Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.

The England international has been on Newcastle’s radar since last summer, and despite two failed attempts to sign him, they are still keen to bring him to St James’ Park. However, the moves did not happen.

However, the Magpies will now face stiff competition from Liverpool and Tottenham, who have both expressed interest in the talented midfielder. The Lilywhites have been linked with the player for quite some time now.

Maddison has been in fine form for Leicester City this season, despite their struggles in the Premier League. He has been very consistent for the Foxes over the years and his talent needs no introduction.

His performances have also caught the attention of England boss Gareth Southgate, who recalled him to the national team during the latest international break. Maddison played a vital role in England’s 2-0 win over Ukraine, earning his first cap in over three years.

It is no surprise that Maddison has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in the country. His technical ability, vision, and creativity on the ball make him an asset to any team, especially Tottenham.

At Liverpool, Maddison would slot seamlessly into their midfield, which has been weakened by the long-term injury to Jordan Henderson. He would add a different dimension to their play, with his ability to pick out a killer pass and create chances for his teammates.

Tottenham have struggled for creativity in midfield this season, with their reliance on Kane and Son Heung-Min to score the majority of their goals. Maddison’s arrival would take the pressure off the attacking duo and give Tottenham more options going forward.

Only time will tell where Maddison ends up. Let’s keep hoping he comes to Tottenham as it’ll be a great addition but we’ll have to wait and watch.
