“One reason or another”- Harry Kane gives his two cents on Antonio Conte’s Tottenham departure

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to risk Harry Kane running down his deal rather than joining Manchester United.

Harry Kane disappointed with “unfortunate” Antonio Conte Tottenham Hotspur departure

Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has broken his silence on the departure of Antonio Conte and is disappointed with the “unfortunate” dismissal of our former gaffer.

After the 3-3 draw with Southampton, our then head coach came out and criticised the players. Subsequently, the Italian manager parted ways with the North London side during the recent international break.

Speaking to the media via Evening Standard, the Spurs striker wished the best for Conte in his future endeavours. However, the England international expressed sadness at the former Inter Milan and Chelsea manager’s exit.

“Obviously I wish Antonio all the best. I had a great relationship with him and it was just unfortunate that for one reason or another it didn’t quite work.”

The Italian took charge of Tottenham midway through the previous campaign after Nuno Espirito Santo was relieved of his duties. He went on to bring some positive changes to the side as we ended up getting into the top four.

At the start of last season, Kane seemed a bit off his game. The 29-year-old was not the best version of himself. However, Conte’s arrival spurred the forward.

In the current campaign, the English skipper has once again been Spurs’ reliable output in front of goal. Unfortunately, the other attackers in the team have been underwhelming, which evidently contributed to the Italian’s exit.

Under our former gaffer, we also looked shaky at the back this term. The 53-year-old mostly relied on the likes of Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies in the backline.

With the investment the North London side made in the summer of 2022, expectations were high. Unfortunately, Conte was unable to deliver the Lilywhites their first trophy in 15 years.

While the Italian’s exit was regrettable, he did not do himself any favours with the drab style of play and the deterioration of the team in the last few months. Hopefully, with Cristian Stellini now in charge, Tottenham will at least be able to secure a Champions League spot.
