Brighton & Hove Albion want to tie down Tottenham Hotspur target Evan Ferguson to long-term contract
Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion want to tie Tottenham Hotspur target Evan Ferguson down to a new long-term contract, according to the Daily Mail (h/t The Sun).
The Seagulls are hoping to secure the Ireland international’s future by the end of the month. Due to the regular opportunities the 18-year-old has been handed in the current campaign, he is in no rush to leave the East Sussex-based club.
However, Spurs and Manchester United are eyeing Ferguson. The North London side and Erik ten Hag’s team want to acquire the youngster’s services in the upcoming transfer window.
Apart from the Irish national, the Red Devils have also been linked with Tottenham’s Harry Kane. To that end, if the Old Trafford side get the England international, Spurs see the 18-year-old as the heir apparent.
However, it remains to be seen whether Brighton are able to hold off the interest in the forward. The Seagulls beat the likes of United, Liverpool and Chelsea to land him from Bohemians.
Ferguson has now broken onto the scene in the current campaign. The 18-year-old has made 18 appearances in all competitions for the Amex Stadium side, finding the back of the net eight times and providing three assists.
For now, Tottenham have an abundance of talent in the attack. Apart from Kane, the North London side can also count on Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski. In the summer of 2022, we also signed Richarlison from Everton.
However, the Brazil international has been underwhelming so far at Spurs. The Lilywhites also got Arnaut Danjuma on loan in January from Villarreal.

But Kane has been our only reliable forward this season. If he were to leave, we would evidently need to bolster our attack. While Ferguson is still raw and inexperienced, the 18-year-old has the potential to develop into a quality striker.
