Tottenham Hotspur want Hakim Ziyech but Chelsea star wants PSG transfer
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for exit-linked Chelsea playmaker Hakim Ziyech, but the player supposedly wants a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) instead.
This is according to Football Insider (h/t the Sun), which states that Chelsea will be open to listening to offers for Ziyech if it is around the £20million mark. Spurs are the likeliest destination for him if he stays in the Premier League.
PSG, nevertheless, seem to be leading the race for his signature given how close they came to signing him on loan in the January transfer window. Should Spurs go for him?
For the amount being quoted above, it is not a bad idea. He may be 30 years old but we can still get a good few years out of him before he starts to visibly decline.
Ziyech to Spurs?
PSG can be a barrier in our pursuit but let us hope they are over Ziyech by the time the season ends and the lure of staying in arguably the most competitive and most watched league in the world gives us a potential edge over them.
We have Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski as our options down the flank and one can imagine Ziyech will not want to be a bench-warmer if he leaves Chelsea, where he is struggling for playing time no matter who is in charge of the club.
His signing can allow Spurs to move Son a bit more central or make a more logical choice and play Ziyech centrally as an attacking midfielder. It won’t be a shabby idea to play the former Ajax man as a central midfielder as well or even as a right wing-back at times if we continue trusting that formation in the post-Cristian Stellini era.

Let’s see if being rivals with Chelsea works against us here but one would imagine that if we put the money on the table, the Blues would want to cash in on a player that just doesn’t seem to become a part of their first-team plans.
