Tottenham Hotspur ‘keen’ on appointing Feyenoord manager Arne Slot
Feyenoord manager Arne Slot is attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur, who are ‘keen’ on appointing him as their new head coach, according to The Times (Subscription Required).
Spurs recently parted ways with Antonio Conte. As a result, the North London side are now looking to bring in a young and progressive coach to take charge of the team.
To that end, Slot is one of the managers being eyed by Tottenham. The 44-year-old has been a head coach for only four years up until now, first taking charge of AZ Alkmaar and then joining Feyenoord in the summer of 2021.
The Dutch national prefers a possession-based, attacking style and has been compared with former Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa. The Peacocks wanted to hire him in February after sacking Jesse Marsch.
Apart from Tottenham, Crystal Palace and West Ham United also have Slot on their radar. The Eagles parted ways with Patrick Vieira recently. As for the Hammers, they are expected to get rid of David Moyes.
The Dutch manager has done wonders at Feyenoord. In the current campaign, the Rotterdam-based club are sitting at the top of the league table, eight points ahead of second-place Ajax.
Slot’s team have also done well in the Europa League so far. They are set to face AS Roma, who are managed by former Spurs gaffer Jose Mourinho, in the first leg of the quarter-finals on Thursday (13 April).
Mauricio Pochettino was the last head coach at Tottenham, who seemingly played a more attacking style of football. Since the Argentine’s departure, the likes of Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Conte have all been pragmatic in their approach.

Manchester United’s appointment of Erik ten Hag from Ajax has paid dividends for them. Will Slot be able to do the same if he arrives in the Premier League? Only time will tell. It remains to be seen whether the 44-year-old is the one Spurs decide to give the reins to in the coming months.
