Chris Sutton offers prediction for Tottenham Hotspur vs Bournemouth clash
Pundit Chris Sutton has backed Tottenham Hotspur to get a win against AFC Bournemouth ‘even if they don’t deserve it’.
He started off his predictions column for the Premier League encounter on Saturday (April 15) at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by saying Brighton & Hove Albion deserved to beat Spurs in their league clash last weekend.
Tottenham managed a 2-1 win at home in a game sprinkled with controversial decisions, including two valid penalty calls for the visitors. But we emerged with the three points in the end, and that is what matters.
Sutton, who played as a striker for Chelsea and Aston Villa among other teams as a player, has backed Spurs to find a way and beat the Cherries. He wrote in his BBC column:
“I really don’t know what to make of Tottenham, though. I thought they would lose to Brighton last week, and they really should have lost – but they got away with it in a big way.
“My gut is telling me that Bournemouth are capable of getting something here, but then Spurs do have Harry Kane and they are still in the hunt for a Champions League place too. They will probably find a way of winning this one, even if they don’t deserve it.”
Spurs are currently in the hunt for a UEFA Champions League spot, trailing Manchester United, who have a game in hand, by three points. Bournemouth, meanwhile, are 15th in the table.
They are just three points clear of 18th-placed Nottingham Forest and safety isn’t guaranteed for them as of now. They will play for a result in N17 and one can imagine they will take a draw if offered before kickoff.
We will have to be at our best. Cristian Stellini is expected to miss the clash in the dugout after being shown a straight red card in the win against the Seagulls. Ryan Mason should be present on the touchline.

This season isn’t about beautiful football anymore. It is about getting over the line and making top four so that our transfer and managerial targets can be lured to north London in the summer. It won’t be bizarre to assume that Harry Kane is also waiting to find out our top-four fate this season before he commits his future to Spurs beyond the summer of 2024.
