Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane “too old and too expensive” for Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich icon Lothar Matthaus believes Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane will be “too old and too expensive” for the Bavarians in the upcoming transfer window.
The England international’s current contract with the North London side is set to expire in the summer of 2024. As a result, the 29-year-old is expected to leave Spurs. Apart from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea, the Bundesliga giants have also been linked with him.
Matthaus, writing in his Sky Sport Deutschland column (h/t Daily Mail), is excited to see who Bayern will opt to strengthen their forward line with next summer. However, the 1990 World Cup winner has urged the Allianz Arena side to avoid the signing of Kane.
“I’m excited to see if a new striker comes along. Harry Kane would be too old and too expensive for me.”
The 29-year-old has been in fine form for Tottenham for several years now. As a result, Spurs are expected to demand over £100 million to part ways with their talisman.
In the 2014/15 campaign, the England international broke into the North London side’s first team. Since then, the striker has not looked back and has shouldered the burden of our attack season after season.
The only dip in form that Kane experienced was when we appointed Nuno Espirito Santo in our dugout. However, the arrival of Antonio Conte saw the forward get back to his best version.
But Tottenham are not in the best of moments right now. We parted ways with the Italian gaffer. The expectations after the appointments of the former Inter Milan and Chelsea head coach were high. However, Spurs are going to another campaign without silverware.
During the 29-year-old’s time in North London, he has developed into one of the best players in the world. Unfortunately, while the 29-year-old has received many individual accolades, team titles have eluded him.

However, Tottenham’s chances of ending their trophy drought are evidently higher with Kane than without him. Therefore, Bayern being dissuaded from signing the 29-year-old is a good thing for us.
