Daniel Levy makes defiant Harry Kane claim amidst PSG interest in Tottenham Hotspur striker
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have made signing Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane a priority this summer, as per French outlet Le Parisien (h/t Express).
Manchester United have also been linked with the 29-year-old superstar. For his three Premier League golden boots and numerous scoring records, including being Spurs and England’s all-time top-scorer, Kane has never won a team trophy.
That has been the big tragedy of his career. It is the reason why he is being linked with a move away from N17 considering he will be 30 soon and could end his career without silverware.
Daniel Levy, however, doesn’t think that he needs to leave Tottenham to win a trophy. Speaking at the debating society of Cambridge University, the Spurs chairman said (h/t the Athletic) [Subscription Required]:
“He can absolutely win a trophy at Spurs. But being a legend is also important. The fact that he’s top scorer of Tottenham Hotspur, he’s making history. I hope one day that there is a statue of Harry Kane outside our stadium.”
Confident claim, considering we have won just one trophy, the Carabao Cup in 2008, in Levy’s 22 years as chairman.
Unless he burns bridges with the club by his own doing, Kane is guaranteed to unanimously go down among the fans as the club’s greatest player of all time. A statue is the least he will deserve after that.
His contract expires in the summer of 2024 and PSG could be on the hunt for a new forward if Lionel Messi leaves. There isn’t a lot we can do to keep him if the big clubs keep calling and we fail to match Kane’s ambitions.

He can play for any team in the world. The least we have to ensure for next season is that we manage UEFA Champions League football. We are fifth in the table with 53 points, trailing Newcastle United by three points while having played one more game.
