Dimitar Berbatov feels Manchester United target Harry Kane will not “tarnish” Tottenham Hotspur legacy
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov does not believe Harry Kane will “tarnish” his legacy in North London.
The England international has been linked with a move to the Red Devils ahead of the upcoming transfer window. At the moment, the forward’s current contract with Spurs is set to expire in the summer of 2024.
However, speaking via the Daily Mail, Berbatov, who switched the Lilywhites for the Old Trafford side in the summer of 2008, feels the 29-year-old will not make a similar decision.
“When you say Spurs, the first thing on my mind is Harry Kane. So that legacy, it’s just too big for him to tarnish.”
Kane made his way through the youth ranks at Tottenham and broke into the first team in the 2014/15 season. Subsequently, the striker has developed into one of the best players in the world.
The English skipper has turned into a proven goalscorer at Spurs, winning multiple Premier League Golden Boots. Over the years, the 29-year-old has carried the North London side’s attack.
In the current campaign, Kane has been the only positive point. The striker has been Tottenham’s only reliable forward. In 42 appearances in all competitions, he has found the back of the net 25 times and has provided four assists.
In the 1-0 victory over Manchester City earlier in the season, the England international broke Jimmy Greaves’ Spurs record. The 29-year-old is now the North London side’s leading goalscorer.
Unfortunately, Kane’s heroics over the years have not ended Tottenham’s trophy drought. Antonio Conte’s arrival had brought some hope. However, the Italian failed to turn things around at Spurs and parted ways with us a few weeks back.

The England international has cemented himself as a legend at the club. One could not have anything against the 29-year-old if he were to leave the North London side. However, it remains to be seen whether that will happen.
