What Jose Mourinho and Tottenham forward Dejan Kulusevski chatted about in recent meeting

A picture emerged of Jose Mourinho and Tottenham Hotspur star Dejan Kulusevski sharing a few words at the entrance of a hotel in Rome earlier this week.

It would have obviously concerned Spurs fans given the conversation could have been related to the player’s future. However, a report by Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport has clarified that the two chatted about non-transfer-related things.

They majorly addressed Roma’s upcoming quarterfinal clash against Feyenoord in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday. Arne Slot’s team won the first leg 1-0 at home.

Mourinho was Spurs manager for a while before being sacked from his post in April 2021. He never got to manage Deki but he would have certainly loved to have a player like him in his squad.

Phew

Kulusevski joined Tottenham from Juventus in January 2022 on an initial 18-month loan deal with the deal expected to be made permanent this summer. Technically, he still isn’t permanently a Spurs player.

Roma shouldn’t have been a big threat to us anyway when it came to Kulusevski’s future, but one can never know in football. Antonio Conte was the manager who signed the Sweden international from Juve.

He left the club by mutual consent last month and one still can’t predict what effect it can have on the players who came here to Spurs after being convinced of the project by Conte. For now, things seem fine.
