Fabio Paratici loses ban appeal amidst uncertain Tottenham Hotspur future
Fabio Paratici, who stepped aside from his role as Tottenham Hotspur sporting director due to a 30-month ban by the Italian FA, has lost his appeal, via the Mirror.
The Italian was reprimanded after an investigation into Juventus’ financials for false accounting. Between 2010 to 2021, the 50-year-old worked at the Serie A giants.
But while the Bianconeri’s 15-point deduction has been overturned for now, Paratici was unable to overturn his ban. Unlike the Spurs chief, Pavel Nedved, Paolo Garimberti and Enrico Vellano were successful in their appeal.
The 50-year-old now has the option to take his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland or start a civil court case. But the Italian could be involved in those proceedings for months.
Paratici’s arrival at the club has been mixed. Since the summer of 2021, Spurs’ recruitment has seen some brilliant players come through the door. However, simultaneously, we have struggled in the last two campaigns.
After Nuno Espirito Santo’s departure, the North London side got a hold of Antonio Conte. While the Italian’s reign with the Lilywhites started on a positive note, this season, it turned sour and he parted ways with the club.
In the last two transfer windows, Tottenham seemingly backed Conte. However, while Spurs strengthened certain departments, most of the players have not lived up to the expectations.
Centre-back has been an area that the North London side could evidently need more quality in. However, we only got Clement Lenglet on loan last summer from Barcelona. Our defence has been underwhelming in the current campaign.
