Dean Jones confirms Ivan Perisic might leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer
Speaking to Give Me Sport, transfer expert Dean Jones confirms Ivan Perisic might leave Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.
The Croatian international was signed on a free transfer by former manager Antonio Conte at the start of the season, hoping to replicate their successful partnership at Inter Milan. However, things haven’t gone as planned.
Perisic’s future at Tottenham is now uncertain following the departure of Conte. With the change in management, there are suggestions that the Croatian could be eyeing a return to Italy, with Inter Milan being a potential destination.
Despite making 39 appearances for Tottenham this season, scoring one goal and providing 11 assists, Jones believes that Perisic has had an inconsistent season. He also doubts that the player is enjoying himself at the club.
Jones suggested that Perisic may want to leave Tottenham because nothing he was promised has been delivered, and the man who took him there, Antonio Conte, is no longer the manager and he doesn’t know who will be appointed next.
Speaking about the situation, here is what Jones had to say about the club and what Perisic is thinking about the future
“From a player’s point of view, you can understand if he did want to leave. In terms of ambition at the club, nothing he was promised has been delivered, and the man who took him there in Antonio Conte is no longer the manager. His form hasn’t been consistent, and I doubt he’s really enjoying it.”
Perisic had a successful career in Italy, where he won multiple trophies with Inter Milan, and it is understandable that he may be considering a return to his former club. He does not seem to have taken to England.
While Perisic has not been at his best this season, it is important to note that he has been playing in a team that has been struggling to find its form. The Croatian could still play a crucial role in Tottenham’s future if given the right support and motivation under the new manager.
