Tottenham linked Mauricio Pochettino on the verge of Chelsea agreement
According to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur managerial target Mauricio Pochettino is on the verge of agreeing a move to Chelsea.
Chelsea sacked Graham Potter last month after a string of poor results and appointed Frank Lampard as his replacement on an interim basis. However, the Blues have shown absolutely no signs of improvement.
After suffering a humiliating defeat at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League, the Blues are in the process of hiring a new manager who can lead this project forward and make Chelsea competitive again.
Pochettino seems to have been identified as the man who is perfect to do this job at Stamford Bridge. However, the Argentinian has also been linked with a return to Tottenham with the club also needing a new manager.
While it is never easy to see a former manager take over a rival team, it is clear that Pochettino is a man with a point to prove. He was sacked unceremoniously by Spurs and it looks like he has not gotten over it.
After a mixed season for Chelsea, it is clear that the club is looking for a manager who can turn things around quickly. The Argentinian seems to be the chosen one but we don’t know if it is for now or the summer.
It is not just the fact that Pochettino is a former Tottenham manager that makes this news difficult to bear. If our former manager does well at Chelsea, it’ll just keep showing us what could have been at N17.
Chelsea seem the more attractive proposition for the Argentine. It is easy to see why. Chelsea has a bigger budget, a more established squad, and a history of success that is hard to match. Tottenham are still aspiring to reach those levels.
