Former Manchester United coach Ralf Rangnick urges Julian Nagelsmann to join Tottenham Hotspur
Former Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has given Julian Nagelsmann several reasons to join Tottenham Hotspur.
The Austrian tactician was at the Old Trafford helm temporarily in the second half of last season before quitting his post permanently to take the job with the Austrian national team. Both he and Julian Nagelsmann have a very good understanding of the Bundesliga.
They have made their managerial careers in Germany with Nagelsmann making Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich attractive teams to watch under his reign. Rangnick has more experience than the German and has served in higher-up positions than a club;’s manager as well.
He seems to have a good knowledge of Spurs, going by his comments given via Sky Sports (German). A translated version of his comments, aimed at Nagelsmann with regard to the Spurs job, can be read below:
“I think Tottenham is an exciting club in many ways. They probably have some of the most modern, beautiful stadiums in the world at the moment. They have one of the best training centers, that is there at the moment and Daniel Levy, who has been running the club for many, many years.
“Although he is not a big spender, he knows the football business and would not put himself in the center of the cameras. If Tottenham really want him, then I think it would be important if a sporting director was still there to support him.
“It can be a very, very exciting story. There is room for improvement, a lot of room for improvement and yet this is not a club where the house expects you to be in the top one or two straight away or three lands.”
All his reasons seem valid. He goes on to add that Mauricio Pochettin has shown that if you work well with Tottenham, you can reach the pinnacle, as the Argentine did with us in the 2018-19 UEFA Champions League – although we faltered in the final against Liverpool.
Tottenham lack nothing in infrastructure and in Daniel Levy, have a chairman who has taken good care of this club since 2001. He has been here long enough to know what is good and what isn’t for the team – although fans will appreciate it if he loosens his purse strings more often.

Nagelsmann, 35, is only getting started in the managerial world. The project at Tottenham would certainly be a welcome challenge for a new-age manager like him. But like Rangnick said, Spurs would be wise to appoint an experienced director of football to aid the young head coach if he does come here.
