Jermaine Jenas hails Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane for Manchester United performance
Former Tottenham Hotspur ace Jermaine Jenas has hailed Harry Kane for his performance in the come against Manchester United in the Premier League.
Spurs welcomed the Red Devils home on Thursday (27 April). The first half did not go as planned, with the Old Trafford side taking a two-goal lead into the break. However, the North London side managed to get a point after an inspiring display in the second 45 minutes.
Speaking on BT Sport (h/t Daily Mail), Jenas, who was on Tottenham’s books for almost eight years, lavished praise on the English skipper. The ex-midfielder is of the opinion that the 29-year-old inspired the Lilywhites’ draw.
“They showed real character. [Mason] made big decisions, taking Richarlison off, but that man there (Kane), the captain, he led by example. He dragged them back into it and got the decisive assist. A real leader’s performance.”
Spurs came out all guns blazing in the second half. We immediately made life difficult for United’s backline and created a number of opportunities to score.
Finally, in the 56th minute, Pedro Porro found the back of the net for the North London side. The Red Devils were unable to clear their lines properly and the Spaniard pounced on a loose ball and scored an impressive volley.
Tottenham continued to give the Old Trafford side’s defence problems. Kane was at the centre of Spurs’ attacks, creating chances for Son Heung-min. The South Korean finally got at the end of a sublime cross from the 29-year-old in the 79th minute to equalise.
In the current campaign, the England international has been our only reliable outlet in the attacking third. The striker has carried us for most of the season, scoring 26 goals and providing five assists in 44 appearances in all competitions.
Unfortunately, the North London side’s other players have been inconsistent. Our defence has looked shaky for some time now. We have been unable to keep a clean sheet or hold onto leads.
