Manchester United, Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur all want James Maddison
According to the Sun, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are embroiled in a battle for talented English playmaker James Maddison.
James Maddison, the Leicester City star midfielder, has reportedly decided to leave the club this summer, regardless of their Premier League survival. Despite enduring a difficult campaign on the injury front, Maddison has managed to score nine goals and provide seven assists.
Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur are all rumoured to be in a battle to secure the player’s services. Newcastle United has been interested in Maddison for quite some time, having already lodged two bids for him last summer.
This summer, the Magpies are set to make a renewed attempt to sign him, and they have the added advantage of potentially offering him the prospect of Champions League football. Tottenham don’t have that luxury.
Manchester United, on the other hand, has also been linked with Maddison and is rumoured to be preparing a bid for him. The Red Devils are in need of a midfielder, and Maddison’s attacking prowess and creativity could make him the perfect fit for their team.
Tottenham Hotspur, who are currently without a manager after the exit of Antonio Conte, are also reportedly interested in signing Maddison. The London club has struggled this season and is looking to rebuild its squad under new leadership.
The player is also about to enter the final 12 months of his contract, making this the last opportunity for Leicester to cash in on him before potentially losing him for nothing next year. This makes him a hot cake in the transfer window.
Maddison’s departure would be a significant loss for Leicester City, as he has been one of their standout performers in recent seasons. However, the club may have no choice but to let him go if they want to balance their books and avoid risking losing him for nothing next year.
