Spurs News: Barcelona respond to Tottenham Hotspur request for Franck Kessie transfer price tag

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to have made an enquiry about Barcelona’s valuation of Franck Kessie.

This is according to Spanish outlet SPORT, via Fichajes, who state that the Catalan giants have responded that they will want at least 25million Euros for him. That will be a guaranteed profit for Barca.

After all, they signed the Ivory Coast international on a free transfer from AC Milan last summer. However, things haven’t worked out for him, as he has often found himself behind Gavi, Pedri, Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong in the pecking order.

But the thing is, will the situation be any different for him at Spurs? It honestly depends on the manager. Antonio Conte was very happy to play with a midfield two of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Make the move Spurs

It would be a surprise if our new permanent manager will want to bench either of those two world-class midfielders. A shift to a three-midfielder formation would help Kessie’s case and Tottenham’s need for more central midfielders.

They have Yves Bissouma, Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr for depth while the loaned-out trio of Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Winks and Giovani Lo Celso could return to N17 this summer.

The aforementioned price tag isn’t a bad deal for a smart, dynamic and physical midfielder like Kessie – even though it does mean handing Barcelona a big profit just because they got to Kessie before other teams last summer.

It remains to be seen if the former Atalanta midfielder wants to leave the Spotify Camp Nou. The 26-year-old signed a four-year deal last summer (Transfermarkt) and it is hard to imagine that he wasn’t aware that he will be a squad player under Xavi Hernandez, at least initially.
