Tottenham Hotspur target Vincent Kompany signs new Burnley contract
Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a blow in their search for a new manager after Vincent Kompany signed a new long-term contract at Burnley.
The Belgian manager was made Burnley’s boss last summer after their relegation from the Premier League. He has since guided them back to the big time in style, winning the Championship in the process.
Burnley have become an attractive team to watch while Kompany has shown that he can lead a Premier League-level team with marked distinction. He is also composed and calculated in interviews, showcasing his temperament at this level.
But the job at Tottenham or even Chelsea would have come as a huge step up for the former RSC Anderlecht manager. He has been linked with the managerial hot seat at both London clubs, with Chelsea employing Frank Lampard as their caretaker boss while Spurs have Ryan Mason in that position.
Good for Spurs
However, he has now put an end to those rumours by signing a new deal at Turf Moor which runs until 2028. He said after signing the new contract, via Evening Standard:
“Burnley and Turf Moor felt right pretty much from the start – so it also feels right to sign for the next five years. Together with the fans we have made Turf Moor a fortress again and continue to look forward to the future and the job of making Burnley better with every step.”
Some Spurs fans would actually be relieved by these developments. He can bring a fresh approach to N17 with his new-age tactics. But he is not experienced right now.
It is better we appoint experienced, big-name, proven coaches who can guide us to immediate success and also promise a bright future. Antonio Conte never seemed like the right fit for the long run.

We have Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann as two front-runners for the position. Hopefully, Daniel Levy can convince one of them to commit their long-term future at Spurs and rebuild this team to make them into title contenders.
