Alasdair Gold reveals moment in Crystal Palace match which had Ryan Mason fuming
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur’s interim manager Ryan Mason was reportedly left fuming during their match against Crystal Palace after yet another injury scare.
Spurs had managed to secure a crucial 1-0 victory over their opponents, ending their winless streak. However, Mason’s frustration was evident when he saw another one of his players being taken off the field due to an injury.
Tottenham’s injury crisis has been well-documented this season, with several key players spending extended periods on the sidelines. This latest setback saw new signing Clement Lenglet being taken off after sustaining an injury during the game.
Mason was livid with the physios for bringing Lenglet off, as he believed that Spurs could not afford to be a centre-back down at that stage of the game. The manager seemed to be screaming something for the same.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Tottenham expert Alasdair Gold revealed that Mason had gone “absolutely ballistic” over the incident. He noted that Lenglet himself was also visibly upset, though it is unclear whether his frustration was directed at Mason or the injury itself.
“Mason went absolutely ballistic at the physios bringing Lenglet off because in his head, he’s thinking: ‘Well, we cannot be a centre-back down at this point. We can’t do that”
“But yeah, he was furious and then Lenglet – it was interesting as Lenglet – was furious as well. I’m not entirely sure why. I don’t know whether he thought Mason was shouting at him for coming off, or whether he was just really annoyed he had to come off because he didn’t think he was that injured. I don’t know”
Tottenham’s injury woes have undoubtedly played a role in their less-than-stellar season, and it is understandable that Mason would be upset over yet another setback. However, the team’s recent win over Palace offers some hope for the future.
Of course, Tottenham cannot rely solely on Kane to carry them through every game. The team will need to address their injury issues if they hope to be successful in the long term. This will require a combination of good luck and careful planning, with the team’s physios playing a critical role in keeping players fit and healthy.
