Tottenham Hotspur inform Barcelona they want to sign Clement Lenglet
Tottenham Hotspur are believed to have informed Barcelona that they want to sign Clement Lenglet on a permanent basis this summer.
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the French centre-back is scheduled to return to Spotify Camp Nou this summer when his loan expires.
His deal with Barcelona runs until 2026 and his contract at Spurs includes no option to obligation to make the deal permanent. But Tottenham have conveyed their intention to buy Lenglet.
And Xavi Hernandez won’t oppose the deal. Barca don’t have Lenglet in their plans and have supposedly signed Inigo Martinez from Athletico Bilbao for next season onwards.
Go for it Spurs
Lenglet joined Barcelona for 36million Euros from Sevilla but his current valuation could be between 15-20million Euros. For Spurs, that should be a fair price to pay.
The player’s contract isn’t running out anytime soon and he is still just 27 – in the prime of his career. Moreover, his audition in the Premier League has gone well.
Spurs are said to be happy with his performances and with how well he has adjusted to the Premier League. It seems everyone is on board for the move to happen.
All that remains is perhaps for Tottenham to table a good offer and for Clement Lenglet to want the move. If he isn’t going to be at Barcelona, there aren’t many top clubs better than Tottenham who will want him for their first-team squad.

Daniel Levy would be smart to try and negotiate a lower price because Barcelona’s financial problems are well known. That, coupled with their eagerness to sell Lenglet, could be used by Spurs to their advantage.
