Aston Villa showing concrete interest in Giovani Lo Celso
According to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa are showing concrete interest in Tottenham Hotspur’s Argentinian midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.
Lo Celso is a talented midfielder for whom things have not really worked out at Tottenham. The 27-year-old is on loan at Villarreal for the season. He had a prominent role in the team under former coach Unai Emery.
It looks like the Spanish tactician has not forgotten the value that his former player adds to the team. Emery seems keen on reuniting with Giovani Lo Celso with the manager keen on taking him to Villa.
Lo Celso missed out on a World Cup medal with La Albiceleste due to an injury that he suffered. He would have been disappointed with the fact that he could not be a part of what can only be called a historic campaign for Argentina.
With his loan spell at Villarreal set to come to an end in the summer, a return to Tottenham is on the cards for the Argentinian. The begging question however is whether he has any sort of future here.
The answer to this might just lie with who Tottenham decide to appoint as their new manager going forward. If the tactician who comes in wants to keep Lo Celso, he might just get one more chance to prove his worth in a Spurs shirt.
It actually seems like Lo Celso is also holding out for the same reason. Romano claims that the 27-year-old would like clarity on who the new coach at the N17 is going to be before considering the move to Villa. That makes sense, as a new manager could provide Lo Celso with another chance in N17, unlike Antonio Conte.
One thing is certain though – Tottenham will not be in a situation where there is a lack of a bidder for Lo Celso. Unai Emery is expected to continue pushing as he looks to convince the Argentinian to join his impressive project at Villa Park.
