Tottenham Hotspur manager Ryan Mason confirms injuries to Eric Dier and Japhet Tanganga
Tottenham Hotspur interim manager Ryan Mason, while speaking post his team’s defeat (h/t Football London)to Aston Villa has confirmed that Eric Dier and Japhet Tanganga are injured and he is unsure of their availability for the last two fixtures.
We are entering the final stage of the season and the loss to Villa has reiterated the importance of winning the next two games for us to have any chance of landing Europa League football.
Therefore it is important that the manager has full availability of the players but Mason is not sure whether Dier and Tanganga will be available for selection.
When asked whether the players will be ready for the upcoming games, Mason replied:
“Yes, they’re both injured. We’re not sure, not entirely sure on both of them [if they will be available for the next games]. I wasn’t able to select either of them today.”
Dier has been a regular in the back three as the main central defender and while he has been error-prone this season, he still provides a good dimension for the team to play out from the back.
Spurs fans would be waiting on the injury news ahead of the next fixture and be hopeful that the England international is available for selection. Tanganga has been in and out of the squad due to recurring injury issues but still provides good depth to the bench.
With games against Brentford and Leeds United remaining, we need the players to deliver a good performance and bring home the maximum points.
It could turn out to be a tight race for Europa League football and it is imperative that Spurs are in the competition, having lost the way for Champions League qualification due to the recent results.
