Tottenham Hotspur add Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi to shortlist

Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi has become one of the latest names to be added to Tottenham Hotspur’s managerial shortlist.

The Italian tactician is being considered by Spurs for the permanent head coach role, as per FC Inter News, via the Sun. Spurs have been without a permanent manager since Antonio Conte’s exit in March.

Cristian Stellini took over as an interim manager before a 6-1 loss against Newcastle United in the Premier League cost him his job. Ryan Mason has since been managing us in an interim capacity.

It seems that the Lilywhites are now looking at Inzaghi, who has done well with I Nerazzurri. He replaced Antonio Conte at Inter Milan after the Italian exited the Italian giants at the end of the 2020-21 season.

Should Spurs go for Inzaghi?

Inzaghi won the Supercoppa Italiana and Coppa Italia in his first season at the club. They also finished second in the league that season, scoring 84 goals – the most of any side in the league.

They are on course for a top-four finish this season but more importantly, are in line to reach their first UEFA Champions League final since the 2009-10 season – when they won the trophy with Jose Mourinho in charge.

Clearly, the 47-year-old has the minerals to manage a team like Inter – one with superstar names and fans that have huge expectations. His 3-5-2/5-3-2 formation can also be a fit here considering Ivan Perisic and Pedro Porro are more of an attacking wing-back duo rather than pure full-backs.

However, it must be kept in mind that Conte didn’t have the easiest time transitioning from Inter to Spurs, even though he had experience of managing in England with Chelsea. Inzaghi has only ever managed two senior clubs – Inter, and before that, Lazio from 2016 to 2021.
