On-loan Sampdoria midfielder Harry Winks wants to return to Tottenham Hotspur for next season
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Paul Brown has claimed that Harry Winks is keen on a return to Tottenham Hotspur for next season.
Winks, the talented midfielder, joined Sampdoria on loan in the summer after falling out of favour under manager Antonio Conte at Spurs. After a poor start to life in Italy, he has come around rather well.
Initially, Harry Winks struggled to make an impact in Italy due to ankle issues. It was a frustrating time for the young midfielder, but he remained determined and worked hard to overcome his setbacks.
As the season progressed, he began to find his rhythm and started showcasing his abilities on the pitch. It seemed like a result, it appears that the end of Harry Winks’ tenure at Tottenham may be on the horizon, despite his desire to return and prove himself to the club’s next manager. The club has yet to appoint a replacement for Antonio Contee Winks was relishing the opportunity to prove himself and reignite his career.
Paul Brown believes that while Winks would 100% like to return to Spurs and prove himself to the next manager, his career at the club is hanging in the balance. Winks has been unable to convince multiple managers that he deserves a regular starting place.
Speaking about the situation, here is what Paul Brown had to say about the talented midfielder:
“Winks is in flux. He has not been able to convince a series of managers now that he deserves a starting place. I’m 100% sure he wants to return and try to prove that to whoever comes in.
“But he’s facing an uphill battle and has a lot of people in front of him at the moment who the club have invested more money in. So, it could be that we’re seeing the end of Harry Winks at Spurs.”
As a result, it appears that the end of Harry Winks’ tenure at Tottenham may be on the horizon, despite his desire to return and prove himself to the club’s next manager. The club has yet to appoint a replacement for Antonio Conte.
Unless the new manager sees something in Winks that makes him keep hold of him at all costs, it doesn’t look like the English midfielder’s future seems to be firmly elsewhere rather than at Tottenham.
