Salernitana still want Tottenham Hotspur starlet Pape Matar Sarr
According to Tutto Salernitana, Italian side Salernitana still want to sign talented Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, despite failing to secure a move for the talented midfielder during the January transfer window.
Sarr’s journey at Tottenham began in the summer of 2021 when he joined the club from French side Metz. However, instead of featuring prominently in the Spurs’ lineup, he spent the following season on loan with his former club.
Throughout that time, speculation surrounding Sarr’s future continued to circulate, with several clubs expressing interest in the young Senegalese star. However, he has impressed in his limited opportunities here.
One of those clubs was Salernitana, who were keen on acquiring the 20-year-old earlier this year. However, their hopes were dashed when Antonio Conte, then Tottenham’s manager, blocked the move as he deemed Pape Matar Sarr an essential part of his squad.
Despite Conte’s intentions, Sarr has found limited opportunities at Tottenham this year. He has made only 13 first-team appearances this season, spending a mere 443 minutes on the pitch.
However, it appears that Sarr will have no shortage of suitors should he become available for transfer. The Italian side remains heavily interested in securing Sarr’s services and could make another attempt to sign him this summer.
Nevertheless, Salernitana may face stiff competition for Sarr’s signature if Tottenham decides to let him go. His talent and potential have garnered attention from several clubs across Europe, making him a highly sought-after player in the market.
As the transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Tottenham to see how they handle Sarr’s situation. The decision could impact both the player’s career trajectory and the club’s plans for the future.
