Ryan Mason does not believe Harry Kane has played his last game for Tottenham Hotspur
Speaking in the post-match press conference as quoted by Football. London, Ryan Mason has spoken about Harry Kane waving to the fans and if it has any connection with his future at the club.
Tottenham’s horrendous season suffered a familiar climax with the club losing 3-1 to Brentford despite leading 1-0 in the first half. What started off as a promising performance quickly turned bad.
Harry Kane got Tottenham off to an incredible start with an absolute peach of a free-kick. It was a beautifully worked set-piece between Dejan Kulusevski and the Spurs captain and Mason could not have asked for a better start.
However, a goal from Yoane Wissa and a brace from Bryan Mbuemo meant that a Brentford without Ivan Toney roared back in style to hand Tottenham their 14th loss of the season. This put the club in danger of not getting European football for the next campaign.
After the conclusion of the game, Harry Kane was seen waving to the fans which immediately sent the footballing world into overdrive amidst the numerous speculations regarding his future at the N17.
When quizzed about the same in the post-match press conference, Ryan Mason claimed that it had nothing to do with his future
“No, he waves at the crowd every season. I remember sitting here two years ago, and you guys were convinced he was leaving, saying the same thing. It’s the last home game of the season so he wants to show his appreciation to the support he’s received, and we’ve all received this season”
Missing out on Champions League football itself was enough reason for Harry Kane to leave the club in the summer. If Tottenham fail to secure any sort of European football, it will be a huge surprise to see him stay here next season.
Kane has time and again carried the club on his back, including today when he gave the club a lead very early. However, as has been the case for so many years now, the team has yet again let him down.
