Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has ‘said yes’ to Tottenham Hotspur job
Arne Slot, who is currently the manager of Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord, has ‘said yes’ to taking charge of Tottenham Hotspur ahead of next season, according to De Telegraaf (h/t Express).
The Dutch head coach has talked to the Rotterdam-based club regarding his intention to join Spurs. While the North London side have been eyeing the likes of Julian Nagelsmann and Mauricio Pochettino, the 44-year-old has emerged as the frontrunner.
Slot’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, has been in discussions with Tottenham for some time now. To that end, the Dutch head coach has agreed to the offer presented by the Lilywhites.
However, the Feyenoord manager has to now hold talks with his current employers regarding the switch. It remains to be seen whether the 44-year-old will be able to come to terms with the Eredivisie outfit.
Slot has two years remaining on his current contract at the Rotterdam-based club. Any team interested in prying the Dutch manager away will have to pay £6 million in compensation to the outfit that recently won the league title.
The 44-year-old spent most of his playing career in the Netherlands. Subsequently, the ex-midfielder first took charge of AZ Alkmaar before being handed the reins at Feyenoord in the summer of 2021.
Ryan Mason is in charge of Tottenham for now. The 31-year-old was appointed on an interim basis after Cristian Stellini was unable to change the course of the ship at Spurs.
Antonio Conte started off bright at the North London side. Unfortunately, the current campaign has brought many of our frailties to the fore.
