Tottenham Hotspur amongst nine Premier League clubs watching Strasbourg youngster Habib Diarra

Tottenham Hotspur are amongst the nine Premier League clubs who are watching Strasbourg youngster Habib Diarra, according to The Sun.

Scouts from the North London side were present at the Stade de la Meinau as the Blues and Whites beat OGC Nice. The France U19 international played the full 90 minutes of the 2-0 victory.

However, apart from Spurs, the 19-year-old is on the radar of several other teams in the English top flight. Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace, West Ham United, Leeds United and Leicester City are also eyeing him.

Diarra is valued at around £20 million as things stand. Strasbourg are willing to part ways with the midfielder but expect a big fee for him.

The Senegal-born French national made his way through the ranks at the Ligue 1 outfit. After being involved in the senior squad last season, the youngster has broken onto the scene in the current campaign.

Diarra has showcased his versatility at the Blues and Whites. He has played in multiple positions in the middle of the park. In 28 appearances in all competitions in the 2022/23 term, the 19-year-old has found the back of the net three times and has provided three assists.

Tottenham have struggled for creativity in the middle of the park over the years. Harry Kane has often had to drop deep and has been our main threat in the attacking third for some time now.

Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg, Yves Bissouma and Oliver Skipp are all defensive-minded. Rodrigo Bentancur was doing well under Antonio Conte but got injured. Pape Matar Sarr has not been handed many opportunities at the North London side.

Some fresh blood is evidently required in Spurs’ engine room. However, will the Lilywhites be able to pip the several other teams in the race for Diarra? Only time will tell.
