Arne Slot commits future to Feyenoord amidst Tottenham Hotspur interest
Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has committed his future to the Eredivisie outfit amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur in acquiring the services of the Dutch head coach.
The North London side were looking to hire the 44-year-old to fill the vacancy in Spurs’ dugout. At the moment, Ryan Mason is in charge of the Lilywhites and will lead the team in the final game of the season against Leeds United.
But speaking to the media via The Guardian, Slot has ruled himself out of contention to be the next Tottenham manager. He has held talks with the Rotterdam-based club and is looking forward to continuing in the Netherlands.
“I have been hearing a lot of rumours going around about other clubs’ interest in me. Although I am thankful, my wish is to stay at Feyenoord and continue working on what we created last year.”
Spurs had the 44-year-old on their list to take the reins of the club. However, after his agent Rafaela Pimenta met with Feyenoord general manager Dennis te Kloese, it looks like the Dutch manager has decided to snub other teams’ interest.
The North London side also have Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim on their radar. But the Portuguese has a €15 million buyout clause next summer. Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is also a name on the Liliwhites’ list, while the club do not intend to push for Julian Nagelsmann’s appointment.
Tottenham have seen a number of managers come and go over the last few years. Since Mauricio Pochettino parted ways with Spurs, the likes of Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte have been unable to impress.
Under the Italian, the North London side managed to finish in the top four last season. Unfortunately, the former Inter Milan head coach was unable to build on that success in the current campaign.
Cristian Stellini also tried his hand as the number one but failed miserably. Mason has managed to oversee a few positive results at Tottenham, but we have still been inconsistent.

Slot has done a tremendous job over the last two years at Feyenoord, winning the Eredivisie title this season. It is unfortunate that the Dutch head coach has decided against taking the Spurs job. Now, it remains to be seen who we will pursue next.
