Tottenham Hotspur in for River Plate striker Lucas Beltran race
Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs in the race to acquire the services of River Plate forward Lucas Beltran ahead of next summer, according to TNT Sports.
The Argentine national has popped up on the radar of some of Europe’s elite teams, including the North London side. Along with Spurs, European giants Atletico Madrid, Napoli and AC Milan are also monitoring the 22-year-old.
Beltran has become a regular in Martin Demichelis’ side. As a result, the striker has caught a lot of people’s attention. The Rossoneri have even held a meeting regarding the signing of the Argentine.
But as things stand, River have not received any formal offers for the forward. The 22-year-old could have left for the MLS last summer but decided to stay and fight for his place at the Estadio Mas Monumental side.
In 2023, Beltran has established himself as a key player for the Buenos Aires-based club. In 20 appearances in all competitions for them, the Argentine has found the back of the net eight times and has provided one assist.
Tottenham’s attack has an abundance of talent for now. The Lilywhites have relied on Harry Kane to lead the line for a number of years. Unfortunately, this season, the English skipper has not had much support from the other attackers in the squad.
Richarlison has not lived up to the expectations so far at Spurs. On the other hand, Son Heun-min has looked like a shadow of his former self in recent months. Dejan Kulusevski has also suffered with injuries in the current campaign.

With Lucas Moura leaving and Kane and Son not getting any younger, we evidently need to plan for the future. Beltran has showcased his talent in Argentina. However, he is still inexperienced. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether we will pursue the 22-year-old right now.
